I got this book from a girl I was in a bad relationship with, we were both really struggling in our lives and that compounded majorly when we brought those struggles together.Growing up I had a lot of self-esteem issues, I often thought negatively of myself, typically had distorted thinking patterns in nine out of ten situations and I was really depressed because of that.Working through this book helped me to recognize my distorted thinking patterns and habits and helped me learn how to reverse those patterns, really what it did is it provided me with the tools I have now that help me to not take offense at things others say, helped me learn to view life objectively, helped me avoid jumping to conclusions in relationships.This book gave me the life that I've always wanted, because I know how to get through life rationally now, it's really helped me to feel empowered.If you struggle with keeping peace in your relationships, being easily offended, or if you think that everyone hates you (which I can assure you is not true) then I'd recommend purchasing this book and working through it. It will open your eyes.

If you wish to use this book, know that it is a workbook, meant to be written in. It does't translate to ebook format at all. The diagrams and charts are scanned in at very low resolution so when you try to zoom in they degrade before you can read what they say. Completely useless.The paper copy of this book though, is wonderful. Buy it instead!

I'm a private practice counselor and often, I find that the assessments in the book not only provide a good indication of how well each of my clients are doing from session to session, but each chapter also provides hands on homework for clients to take home to complete, reflect upon, and bring for processing results in next sessions. I find this therapeutic Aid when used properly , can be an indication of client motivation, assessment of their treatment progress, and the lessons are somewhat straightforward at the weekly lessons present universally helpful information in a way that's easy for most people, counselors and clients alike, to apply to their own lives and for them too understand.

I have been struggling with low self-esteem for over 15 years. I always knew I had problems and I should not feel the way I felt but I thought it would go away eventually. Well, it never did. So, I finally gave in and - after a little encouragement from a a friend- I started counseling. During my first session, the counselor recommended this book, so I ordered it for app. $15. I have read the reviews before ordering and someone said that no matter what you read in the reviews, depressed people and people with low-self esteem do see the word negatively, and will say that this book does not work. That review made me order it. What can I loose? 15 bucks? I spend more than that going out on a Saturday night. After 2-3 weeks, I have started feeling much better, and not seeing myself as a complete failure. No matter how many people told me I looked beautiful before, I never felt like that. No matter what I achieved in my life professionally, I never felt it was enough or I did well. But the view of my life and myself have changed, and I have only completed 6 steps out of the 10 in the book. I started paying more attention to what I wear and started wearing clothes/jewelry I bought years ago and never felt like being pretty enough to actually put them on. I don't feel like people are staring me because I am the ugliest person in the room, and I started to feel that my job is actually useful and others can really benefit from what I do. Yes, I still do counseling but that's only one hour in a week, so most of the time I need to work on my issues by myself. The book is great because it made me realize all the elements of my negative thinking. I am a very rationale person, if I can put a name on something and see logics behind it, I can't argue with it. I never believed the book would work but it did. I still don't understand why and how it worked but I do feel significantly better than I did in years. I still have bad days but it is less and less, and there are more and more good days. What can you loose if you order this book besides a couple of dollars? Nothing, but you can actually feel better about yourself and stop feeling miserable in your own skin. So, don't hesitate, just buy it.

My therapist recommended that I get this book. I LOVE doing work that improves my life, but this was the hardest work I've done so far, yet the most rewarding. As other reviewers have said, you MUST write in the book, and DO THE WORK in the book in order to get something out of it.It was so hard for me to initially recognize my distorted thinking patterns, but now I can recognize and label them almost instantly and I definitely operate in them much much less than before. I have written all in this book and will keep this one permanently in my library for a reference or if I need some encouragement.Some pages took me hours to complete, because I was in denial that "my way" of seeing things was wrong. When I finally gave in, that the author was right, and did the work, I FINALLY started to see. It's like a veil has been lifted off my eyes. If you aren't going to do the work, the very hard work involved, please don't buy the book because you will think it's not good and give it a bad rating when in my opinion that would be undeserved.Oh and in my opinion there is no way to finish this in ten days. For me it has taken months and I'm still working in it.
