The National Electric Code, also knows as NFPA-70, is the standard that building officials use to define what is legal to use in electric services of all kinds. NFPA is the National Fire Protection Association. The Electric Code began almost as soon as Edison wired some of his new lights in New York, and the first electricity caused fire happened. Soon thereafter the National Fire Protection Association began writing safety codes aimed at preventing fires and promoting safe wiring techniques. Today, more than a century later, the Electric Code is republished every 3 years. As new inventions and new applications for electricity are ever expanding the code book expands and is revised to define the new applications. The 2005 edition has been updated to include recent developments in available materials and equipment. The code has 772 large pages detailing every electric installation from common house wiring to installation requirements for 35,000 volt transformers. The tables detailing how many conductors you can put in a conduit go on for 50 pages in the appendix.The problem most people have with the code comes from its complexity and scope. If you are a handyman, or even an electrician, it takes years of study to learn all its requirements, and even then they change it on you. It can be helpful though. One year I was installing wire for a welder in my garage. I found a paragraph that allowed me to derate the current load of the conductors based on the duty cycle percentage of the welder. I saved quite a bit of money on heavy wire that wasn't needed, and had a safe installation. The code is so long and complex that several other books have been written to help professional and amateur electricians understand the code, translating it's stilted language and detailed requirements into plain English for common applications. The "Illustrated Guide to the National Electric Code," by Charles R. Miller, is one of the better ones. There are also numerous how-to handbooks on electric wiring based on the code. For example, "Wiring Simplified," by Richter and others. is an easy do-it-yourself guide. However, even an illustrated guide book is not the code. When the electric inspector comes out to review your work you need to know that you wired it correctly. You can bet he's read the code and will be approving or disapproving your work based on its requirements.Over the years I've had to repair and straighten out many half-baked and outright dangerous electric installations. Many of them were done by well meaning men who just didn't know how electric wiring was supposed to be done. I recommend that everyone doing wiring from homeowner to seasoned electrician, to electric engineer ought to own a current copy of the National Electric Code. The 2005 edition will be current until 2008.

The book is full of information but extremely technical. It has everything electrical for all types of structures comercial, residential etc. I found the book Wiring Simplified at Home depot to be easier to use for my cabin building project. Wiring Simplified is strictly for residential which is what I wanted. The code book was helpful but had too much of what I didn't need.

This book was in new condition just like it was described. New it goes for $40 easily and I got it for $3 with shipping. Love Amazon and all the companies it does business with. Very reputable. Now I just have to study for my D.C. test, this code book wont look new much longer. I also told about 15 people in my class and they were all ordering this 05 version from Amazon as well.

Lots of fun. It's certainly no ode to young earth creationism, which may or may not recommend it to some people. It is an exercise in logically examining arguments and assumptions, and for that reason it should be beneficial to anyone willing to undertake the exercise. An aid to combat consensus thinking or the idea that you should "just shut up and go along."

I found it compelling. However, for me, it is not an easy read! Very detailed as if it is a scientific text.

For this reader, the important quality of this book is not its critical analysis of the various theories naturalistic evolution. Rather, it is important because it illustrates that believers of a system - whether atheistic or theistic, scientific or metaphysical - tend to embrace that belief with a defiance and close-mindedness that places the actual search for truth as a low priority. I personally have discussed this topic with fundamentalist Christians as well as staunch scientific atheists and find little difference between them, except that they are able quote from different books, and don't dress at all alike. The one thing they seem to have most in common is that they have little understanding of - or tolerance for - the other's point of view.In a complex universe where so little is understood, such arrogance is folly.

I thoroughly enjoy reading the author’s books as he is very methodical in his approach to his subjects. He also appreciates a critical examination of whatever the subject is. The climate within academia is disgusting when so many who would denounce Darwinism as proven are silenced because of so many leaders of schools/colleges are pro-not proving hat they believe concerning Darwinism but only interested in forcing their beliefs down everyone else’s throats to have power!!!Just like the witch trials of old, professors/faculty who disagree with the pseudoscience of Darwinism are censured and even fired because they are theists or at least serious thinkers.So much for freedom of speech, huh? And so much for the concept of higher learning. It just goes to show that sin is real, liars still exist, dictators still exist on American soil..and they call themselves scientists, brites(brights), whatever.Authors of this mans caliber I applaud and support as he is a real thinker and is will to take on doing real homework to disclose his viewpoint while the Darwinists he challenges are showing themselves to be, yet again, lazy, rhetoric blowing liars because it takes real effort to discuss truth. It takes NO work, no real thinking, no effort to hold oneself accountable to tell partial lies and just spin nonsense.Accountable? That requires adhering to moral principles that Christianity promote and as we know, most Darwinists are atheists because THEY WANT TO BE GOD and say what is and is not evil. Crush others who disagree with them and coerce all to accept their dogmas. Mmmmm Saddam Hussain tactics perpetrated on USA soil in institutions of higher learning. How poetic.

This book is very thorough. I am taking my test in middle of September. It takes a good 6 weeks to work through the book. My fingers are crossed!! **** Update as of 10/5/17. I took my test and passed with flying colors!!

I used this book to study for the AAMA certification exam. I found this to be the best representation of content that is on the exam out of anything else I used. I highly recommend purchasing this book.

With an amazing plot Jack Dublin's novel will appeal to readers of all ages. The characters are authentic with each one having their own unique voice and nicely nuanced personalities. There is a lot of attention to detail a there should be in any fantasy novel but what struck gold with me was how original the story is. The plot thickens as momentum gathers and rather than leave his readers hanging at the end he brings everything together in readiness for the next release. I think this is the start of an exciting new series and look forward to the next release.

My 13yo son absolutely loved this book and flew through it in two days. He's eagerly awaiting the next release. :-)

What a fun collection of stories! Each raised new questions of history and language with my son. What a fun way to step back in time!

This is an interesting series of chapters designed as various episodes or experiences of the lead character. He describes events in words that young people can understand, while clarifying terms that might be fuzzy to children. This is a great teaching resource for kids, even in a home schooled setting.

A collection of entertaining short stories as told by a prospector of the mid 1800s while sitting around a campfire telling tales to young folks. Some are tall tales somewhat reminiscent of those told about Paul Bunyan and Pecos Bill, and some are analogous to Bible stories. From the gold fields of California across the country to the lost island of Atlantis, the adventures are fun to read. All are free of profanity and end with a good old moral of the story.

It's not really a bad yarn, it's just a rambling somewhat boring mess. Maybe this is aimed at a younger audience but I quickly grew tired of the explanation of words after their use. The stories aren't that interesting and take too long to go anywhere.To each their own, this just wasn't my cup of tea.

I have LOVED every fictional novel by Joel C. Rosenberg thus far and The Kremlin Conspiracy does not disappoint! This book is very much in the same style as Rosenberg's other fictional novels, all of which are packed with nail-biting suspense to the very end. All of the characters are well-developed. The dialogue and scene description make you feel like a fly in the wall inside the Kremlin or the White House.It's always fun to guess who the author may have based any of the characters on, but also far more sobering to realize that in so doing, the author makes a compelling case for the threat that exists in the plot of this novel actually happening. I highly recommend this book!

As with all of the fiction and non-fiction by this talented author, I absolutely loved it; inhaled it actually! Already looking for the sequel, and praying this great man of God will continue to spread what is needed to be spread in this world! Inspired, riveting, centered, appropriate, knowledgeable, skilled; I will add these adjectives should someone need more of a recommendation! Thank you for providing such good and meaningful fiction amidst some other offerings; sadly, we do find it difficult to find new material since Eugenia Price, James Michener, Gore Vidal, and some others have gone to, I am sure, a Great Reward. We would love to see more of Randy Alcorn's fiction, who does the same as the above. We need more, much more choices in good, honest, and clean fiction. May you be blessed!

Joel C Rosenberg is one of the very best authors I've had the pleasure to read. I'm disabled due to a back injury. So, reading is the spice of my life. Actually, it pretty much "is" my life. I've read every one of JCR's novels. He is a very intelligent man, to come up with these intricate stories with such detail, "accurate" detail. My only wish is that he'd write faster!!! 😁 I realize his research is what takes the time. He is incredibly knowledgeable about world affairs, multiple religions, the customs of many countries, world history and important to me, the Bible. An author for man, woman or child, one chapter and you're hooked.

This book reads like a novelization of current events. Published earlier this year, its top political figures are remarkably similar to the current ‘president for life’ of Russia, the newly elected president of America, and a particularly outspoken member of the American Congress.The main character is a guy named Marcus Ryker who has a really difficult way to go, facing life and death issues first hand throughout his life. He goes from being a school kid who finds it necessary to shoot his abusive step-dad, to a grunt in the Marine Corps who ends up in a helicopter crash with a horrendous firefight, to being a Secret Service agent who saves the White House against a terrorist attack, to an unemployed guy, which is where his real role in this book begins.The other main character is a young Russian lawyer who becomes the son-in-law of Aleksandr Luganov, the doppelganger of Russia’s president Putin. His life in some ways parallels that of Ryker, but in other ways is radically different. They both meet and marry the love of their life, they both eventually lose their family, and they both court death on a regular basis. Whereas Ryker faced the possibility of being outright killed by bad guys in combat, Oleg Kraskin lives daily among the top dogs in Russia. He becomes increasingly closer to and trusted by Luganov, ultimately becoming his closest advisor and confidant. At this level he is in the realm where speaking against the whims of the president could get you ‘disappeared’.The Kremlin Conspiracy is about Luganov’s desire to “restore the glory of Russia” that was lost in 1991 with the collapse of communism and the Soviet Union, and to become the sole world superpower. He intends to do this by reconquering three former Soviet states who have since become members of NATO. He feels that by doing so, he will render NATO obsolete and powerless, and will demonstrate that the West can no longer challenge him. As the story progresses, Luganov becomes increasingly dishonest with his cabinet, his military leaders, his allies, and the world at large. He also seems to slowly lose his grip on reality by crawling into the bottle more and more often, losing his family, and ultimately reaching the point where he relishes the thought of nuclear war. Kraskin, on the other hand, becomes increasingly disenchanted with the direction Luganov is headed, and, putting the safety of his country and family above his own safety, he reaches out to Ryker and between them they formulate a plan to avert an apocalypse.Given the state of politics in America and the world, and the recent aggression exhibited by the new Russia, this story is plausible. It is conceivable that events similar to these occur on a daily basis, and that destruction of the world could easily be brought about by decisions made by egocentric world leaders.While the story is good, the book itself falls short in a few areas. First, the thing takes a while to get started. The author insists on dwelling excessively on background information that does not propel the story line. Regarding Ryker, the book alternates between periods of action (interesting) and periods where his family relationship is explored (boring). In fact, Ryker doesn’t even contribute to the real plot until near the end. The Oleg Kraskin side of the book is actually more interesting, but again the author takes up excessive pages discussing issues unrelated to the story. As a whole, the book progresses with fits and starts in the beginning, with early adventure followed by misfires and distractions, then finally gets in gear at the end, only to stop dead in its tracks, leaving the reader and the characters – literally – hanging. If the story were true, a more satisfying book would have picked up a little later in the action, skipped over some of the less useful personal interests, and concluded at a later point when the fallout from the plot becomes known. This one gets 3.5 stars.

I am not sure what to write here as everyone has said what I am thinking already. Awesome book ! Excellent adventure.I read late at night when life finally slows down a little. So I could only read a chapter or two at night. It took me longer than some of the reviewssay they inhaled this book.Took me awhile, but I love this book. Love this story. There was a part in the book that caught my by surprise and I found myself thinkingJoel Rosenberg, how could you do this ! But no spoilers here.I love everything about this book. I read some of the other reviews of this book, saying its not as good as some of his other books.But I think it is an awesome story and he has done really well in the telling. What I find interesting is how the headlines are following along with this story. Interesting, how Joel Rosenberg can write like this ~ headlines before they happen.And the ending of this book! Really? Joel Rosenberg how can you leave us hanging like this !??We are supposed to wait a whole year for the sequel to find out what happens to.. again no spoilers here.. but really !! ??Excellent book all around. Love the story. I can't wait for the next part to come out.. Hurry up Joel.. we are waiting :)
