I've recently discovered Iza Trapani's picture books and I love them! I also got the "Itsy Bitsy Spider" and "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"! They're wonderful books and I love the added verses!

My mom is a librarian now after nearly 30 years of teaching Kindergarten (five of which were spent teaching 1st thru 3rd grade). She does the story times at her library. She recommended these books to me for our two year-old daughter. Our daughter knows and loves these songs and the artwork is simply unmatched in Trapani books. You will not be disappointed with any of her books. Promise.

Love Iza Trapani books and this one is no exception. She artfully & creatively adds verses to the children's songs we all know & love. I liked singing these books to my son when he was a newborn and now that he is getting old enough to look at the books, I sing them to him while he looks at the pictures. He likes the repetitive nature and having me sing to him. So sweet.

My 2 yr old girl and 6 year old nephew love this book. It’s an easy read/sing and illustrations are funny.

Iza Trapani takes the first verse we all know and love and expands it into a magical story. It engages kids of all ages with the wit, humor and beautiful illustrations to make this a very engaging book.

It's wonderfully illustrated and perfect for kids who've never been in a boat yet. I do wish the pages were thicker but it's wonderful.

This is such a cute book to look at while reading and singing the lyrics to this classic tune. My children loved it when they were little, and I am now buying it for the new moms at work.

The Good: Its a short entertaining book that you can finish in a few days of casual reading. The investing strategy presented appears to work (at least over the 19 years described).The Not so Good: After reading a bunch of academic papers where investing strategies are rigorously back tested over 50-80+ year time frames I was a bit shocked to see the original version of this book listed a '17 year' back test period. Why 17 years and not 15? Why not 20 years? Why choose the back test period that has a huge long bull market (80s and 90s)? Seems a bit like curve fitting the data to me and without a good explanation from the author on why those 17 years were chosen we are left to wonder. Thankfully this updated version includes 4 'out of sample' years which start from 2005 and end in 2009 showing that the strategy seems to have held up by outperforming the S&P over that 4 year period (not each year but over the 4 years total). Furthermore, you are buying and selling 30 stocks each year this will have tax consequences (unless you are investing through an IRA or 401k) and transaction costs which were not really mentioned.

I am a passive investor and have been for over 20 years. The strategy has worked well for me, and now in retirement I have been able to enjoy the fruits. Most of the wise statements made in this book are as valid for the author's strategy as they are for passive/index investing. Like the author states through the entire book is so very true: investing is a long term project with many challenges on the way. Thus, even if you are not interested in becoming an active investor, picking your own stocks, the book is a gem!

It's a good book for the average investor and you will get something out of it whether you choose to follow any of its core beliefs. The funny thing is this book is 10+ years old now and from what I gather the author/investor has completely changed his strategy and now tries to eek out very slight gains where it used to be about long term outsized performance.

I purchased the original version of the book back in 2006 and just bought the latest version. Both are well written and the explanations are such that an average person can understand. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading both versions and recommend them for everyone interested in investing in the stock market.

Green latte outlines a straightforward approach to value investing, and warns of the emotional challenges of a long-term strategy during short-term downtrends. No one should invest with reviewing and evaluating Greenblatt's approach. Highly recommended!

This book is definitely recommended for people who are still unsure about investing in the stock market. The explanation is succinct and concise. I believe that people will have the confidence to invest in the stock market after reading this book as they get the big picture of how the market works.

I was recommended this book by a friend, and it's an easy read. Suggest you have some scratch paper hand, to jot down notes as you go. This is a beautifully crafted and elegant book. When I first opened this book I was stunned by the lovely flowing script of Rabbi Kushner's hand writing and it is a precious part of my library.While this book is a brief foray into the living vibrancy of the Aleph-Bet, I highly recommend it. Toda Raba!

Lawrence Kushner is a great author and more than one of his volumes rest on our bookshelves. I bought this for my husband and he pretty much devoured it.The book says it is meant for children but we both disagree with the idea that "only" children will get value reading this book.Yes, get it for your child if you want but don't hesitate to open it up just for yourself especially if you are interested in some of the kabbalist ideas on Hebrew letters.

This little book is a sweet, mystical addition to any library. Expect to learn something new, but don't expect a substantive text. It's more like an illustrated mystical alphabet for adults than an in-depth test.Also? This text is really good as a resource for calligraphers! :)

This was a gift,...It arrived quickly and as expected, was in very good condition.Bonus point...it was a signed edition!!!

It would make a great gift for Jewish children studying for their Bar or Bat Mitzvah, but also for anyone interested in this ancient language. Rabbi Kushner does a fantastic job explaining each letter.

It's a great primer on Hebrew letters.

This book was my introduction to the Hebrew alphabet and as a non-Jew it swept me into all the mysteries. I loved the artwork and immersed myself in its stories. Rabbi Kushner responded kindly to my emails.

About the Author

Nonny Hogrogian is a two-time winner of the Caldecott Medal, first for Always Room for One More (1966), and second for One Fine Day (1972). She also received a Caldecott Honor for The Contest (1974). My 4 year old daughter loves this book and so do I. This is a nested story where each progressive element builds as the fox attempts to get his tail back from an old lady through bartering. The repetition allows a child to participate in the story. I like to pause to let my daughter fill in what each character needs in order to help the fox. The illustrations are vibrant and fun. Highly recommended for bedtime stories.

This is an absolutely wonderful book for children based on an Armenian folktale. It gives American children a view of how stories are both alike and different in different cultures. The colorful illustrations add so much feeling and delight to the story itself. It makes a wonderful gift.

This is one of my favorite books for preschoolers! The fox has lost his tail. He is afraid his friends will laugh at him. He asks for help from many sources, but none will freely help him. Each has a condition the fox must meet before they will help. Finally the fox meets the miller. The miller freely gives the fox the grain - without asking for anything in return - because he is a good man. The fox then has what he needs to give what was required for each previous request for help so he can meet the condition for having his tail sewn back in place. That is a long run-on sentence which reflects the style of writing in this cumulative tale. With his tail restored, the fox can join his friends. Friendship is a big issue with four-year-olds. Compassion is a virtue we need to foster in our children. A fox tail cut from posterboard can be used to play "Tail, Tail, Who Has the Tail?" It is played the same way the classic game "Button, Button" is played. A card game where heads and tails of various animals are matched is a great follow up for this book.

Cute story and definitely a good lesson to learn for rowdy boys like my son. The art is beautiful but a great story to read to my son before bed.

Not a good book. It was repetitive, boring and at times confusing.

I bought this for a Christmas present. Phil graduated a year after I did from the same high school. I had read his last novel, about our West Tulsa set in the 1950's. Loved it. Prague is not too far from where I currently live and wanted to buy this novel for my husband. Look forward to reading it after he does!

As a 'seasoned' RN I thought I knew all there is about teaching patients and caregivers - then I read Health Literacy in Nursing - and it opened my eyes to the huge gaps there is in my knowledge and understanding of health education. I would dare to say that its the same for other nurses. We have the knowledge and the desire to teach, but we rarely stop to think about how effective our teaching methods are, and if we are truly helping our patients.In this book Dr. Parnell providers clinicans with the tools to assess how they are communicating with patients, and chapters of practical knowledge of how we can do it better. This book should be part of every facilites continuing education program, and if you are looking for a Christmas gift for your favorite doctor or therapsit this is it! Although the book is wirtten for nurses, all health care professionals would benefit from reading it.

I loved this book! Dr. Terri Ann Parnell truly captures ‘the magnitude of the issue’ of health literacy and provides her audience with a wealth of information and resources. I found her real life case scenarios and step by step guidance extremely valuable. As a home care nurse and clinical instructor, her nursing strategies to improve communication have been very helpful to me and are easily applicable in all patient care settings. This book has enhanced both my practice and my students' clinical experiences. A terrific book for any nursing or health-professional curriculum!

Dr. Parnell wrote an excellent book on various aspects of health literacy. There is evidenc-based information on the effect of low health literacy on patient outcomes. She presents strategies for effective oral and written communication in every patient encounter. There are chapters on health literacy and unique populations: end-of life, pediatrics, mental health disorders and older adults. This book was in invaluable resource for my dissertation on health literacy.

This book was required for my BSN program, and it's pretty thorough.

I absolutely loved this book, I wish I had known about this book few months ago. When I was doing my assignments on Health Literacy in previous courses, I referred to several articles and resources like AHRQ website etc. When I read this book last week, I was like wow the author compiled all the research so well in this book and I wish I had read this book first. I am thankful to the author for organizing the book so well with different age group, different issues, different framework and models, providing excellent examples, and real life scenarios. I was particularly shocked when I read the scenario about 60 years old men who could not read to his grandkids and his wife did not know for 40 years of their marriage that he could not read. If his wife did not know then how can nurses assume patient understood the instructions given to them. I also, enjoyed the sections on verbal and written communications techniques and how I can make an impact on my organization by educating nurses on how to say things.

I recommend this book! Low health literacy is a costly issue that health systems largely overlook in healthcare as a factor in ED recidivism, later diagnoses, 30 day readmissions and poor patient outcomes. Moreover, patients understanding their diagnoses, treatments and care is a human rights issue and Terri Ann Parnell, DNP, MA, RN, FAAN is one of the national nursing leaders addressing the issue.

I'm a nursing student going for my second degree from a public health background and I felt like this is such an amazing resource especially being in NY with such diverse patients.Definitely reccomendation this to anyone studying medicine or nursing. Such a useful tool!
